THEE best |
How can anyone complain about the soundtrack of Harold and Maude? Cat Stevens was a perfect pick. This movie is colorful and creative. It deals with meaningful issues such as self fulfillment, the spontaneity and wonder of life, death. The movie is commical but what moved me most of all was the bond between the characters. This is a think-outside-of-the-box movie and the character bond that I'm talking about is quite provocative (if you so choose to frown upon it).
I felt lifted after I watched Harold and Maude. It's a movie for idealists and people who enjoy symbols and hidden meanings. |

Great Film about an Unlikely Alliance |
Wide-eyed 17 year old Harold has all that he desires. Except love. Wealthy beyond avarice he is none-the-less a pitiful character. His possessive mother arranges dates for Harold (auditions actually), as she deems him fit to join his peers on the dating scene. She fills out the computer love test for him, and sends it back without even letting him know. She despises girls who EAT SANDWICHES, and drink wine FROM A BOTTLE! This will be no easy match-making. In the meanwhile, Harold stages numerous fake suicides for his mother's unbenefit. Enter Maude. Nearly 80, and with numbers tatooed on her left arm. she had been in NAZI warcamp but survived. She enjoyed life to the fullest. savoring every minute she had left. Harold and Maude meet at a funeral and discover both have a fascination with death. It is from that odd commonality with death, that Harold and Maude grow into love. It is a bit, of course, sappy and accidentally amuseing. worth a gander though. but I wouldn't get it.

Strange But GOOD |
Central message of the movie is that, just like there are a lot of ways to find GOD, there are a lot of ways to find love, and until you "find yourself," you have a lot less love to give to the world. One must find one's own song in life to have this experience be as meaningful as possible.
