A Classic Album That Could Have Been A Little Better

This is a classic album in the music world, and no one needs me to make such an announcement. However, it is, in all honesty, spotty in some respects. "Key to the Highway" is good, but the drug binge that this entire band had been on during its recording in a Miami, Florida hotel room is very evident in Clapton's voice and somewhat evident in his playing. "Layla" still hits the mark, even though, again, Clapton sounds like he's ready to fall apart. In fact, he admitted to all of this in an authorized biography twenty years ago, and he admitted that it would have been much better had he, Duane Allman, and the rest of the group been not so wasted during most of its recording. Nevertheless, it still makes for a very good listen overall and has withstood the test of time easily.

A Masterpiece

Every artist has a career album and this is Eric Clapton's.
This CD is not only his personal best but one of the All-time Rock classics.
The album is primarily blues and has alot of electric slide guitar on it.
Duane Allman plays much of the slide on the CD.
This CD includes the classics "Bell Bottom Blues, Key to the Highway, Have you ever loved a woman. Layla and a very strong version of the Jimi Hendrix classic "Little Wing"
This CD is a guitar lovers dream. He plays the guitar as only Eric Clapton can. If you like blues you will like this CD.

Simply Superb

Though I have always had the deepest of respect for Mr. Clapton, this album was the album that really showed me what was so special about him. While mostly known for its stunning title track, each and every track on this album is more than worth the entire price. Clapton not only shines on the guitar, but he also gives the most passionate and moving vocal performance of his career. Duane Allman and Eric Clapton bring out the absolute best in each other's playing, and the rest of the band is also breathtaking. Anyone who likes blues, classic rock, or just good music should thoroughly enjoy this musical landmark. I never understood why Eric Clapton was considered among the Gods of rock until I heard this album. Anyone who has ever had any doubts about him should truly check this out.
