Great Headphones For the Money |
I listen to a wide variety of music, from classical to rock, and am very picky when it comes to sound quality. That said, I think the Sony MDR-V600 are impressive sounding headphones. They have full, crisp, and deep range. They are also very comfortable and are well contoured to the ears. And the price makes them very affordable.
The ear padding and coverings do tend to deteriorate after a few years, and I recently purchased a new pair because of this. Ironically, the new manual even had a disclaimer noting that this may occur. However, I often wear mine during home exercising. So sweat released onto the pads likely contributes to the problem. But even if you have to replace them every 3-4 years, I would still recommend these headphones. And many other (more expensive) headphones may have this same problem. |

Let me preface this by saying I'm not a DJ, I'm not using these in any where near the type of environement a professional musician would. I use them at my 8-5 office job, and they never leave my desk, so they get babied a bit.
This is my second pair of MDR-V600 headphones. My first pair lasted me over 5 years, and still sound as good today as the day I bought them. All that is really wrong with the old pair is the padding is worn out, and that can be replaced for $25/earcup from sony's website. I only bought a new pair because the foam on the headband finally shredded as well, and the headband foam cannot be replaced without buying a new headband for $80, which is about the same price as a new pair of phones. Between the old pair and the new pair, I bought a pair of Sennheisers, about the same price range, and was horribly disappointed, so now I'm back to the old V600's, and couldn't be happier. |
