Weird Movie

This movie was made in 1962, but the whole style is basically 50s, Doris Day looks like my grandmother in it. The whole plot is kind of weird, watch it yourself, but don't expect anything great really. Just some sugarcoated 50s Hollywood romance with two aging protagonists and 1950s sexual mores. Basically the rich guy (Cary Grant, who else) meeting the country wench kind of thing. For a better movie with Grant I would recommend "House Boat", Sophia Loren is much better than Doris Day anyhow.

As fans of both Cary Grant and Doris Day I enjoyed their charming romantic comedy That Touch of Mink and I wish they had made more movies together. I highly recommend this DVD!

Wait for a better remastering by a better publisher

I won't go into the plot of the movie. Most reviewers do that without commenting on the quality of the video itself. I've always loved the movie and jumped at the chance to get the DVD. It was widescreen, but I knew it wasn't anamorphic, so there were no surprises there, just disappointed that this is how it was made. The biggest problem came when I started the movie. Immediately, I noticed that the video seemed to go in and out of focus constantly and the screen seemed to jitter occassionally. The picture is grainy and not clear at all. Overall, the movie is not fit to watch. I tried to take it back to Wal-Mart (who puts customer satisfaction first?????). I was told without hesitation that I could not return an opened DVD. I told them it was defective. There still refused, blaming the copyright law. That makes me think. It seems that the video production companies pushed copyright legislation through and then use it as a means to produce crap like this, knowing you have no recourse; you're just stuck with it. My advice is to stay away from this movie until a company other than Artisan puts is out.
