Samsung Data Kit for Samsung V205

Average rating: Stars
Stars Limited functionality but has 3 main purposes
To begin, this version of the connection software is limited. Saying that I have to ask the question how the previous comment said the software is "un-intuitive" and "outdate and limited" when it follows Microsoft windowing standards.

The main purpose of this software seems three-fold: First, to upload/download your phone numbers. This alone is well-worth the price. I am not sure how often you have changed phones or had to re-enter phone numbers, but this feature does away with this nicely. As well, it has the ability to import/export to Outlook's Address Book. I haven't tested this thoroughly but the import seemed to work. (More testing is required here.) Second. the package allows you to upload your phone log for billing purposes. This feature allows you to track your calls instead of keeping a second log. I haven't tried to use the data that is uploaded from the phone. So there may be limitations here. You may to write a conversion program to get the data into the format you require. Third, the package allows you to place your calendar on your phone. Your phone can start to act as your daytimer (in a limited fashion).

A couple things about this cable: it is serial so requires a serial port on your PC. I have loaded and used the serial port on Windows 98 on a laptop to Windows XP on a Pentinum 4 and the software worked perfectly. There is another version of this cable that use a USB plug. Not all hardware supports the USB, but if yours does I would go with cable instead. Its just easier to use than serial.

As for transferring ringtones to your phone, I am too busy to be worrying about the way the phone sounds when the phone is ringing.

Samsung Data Kit for Samsung V205 - Samsung
Stars mediocre at best
...you really would think it would perform better. unlike pc management software for nokia's, samsung has highly un-intuitive software that seems very outdated and limited. only real reason i could think of to use this is to transfer ringtones, and its an expensive way to do that...decide for yourselves
