Holds well / Sounds good |
| What else do you expect a headset to behave? I use it all the time on my panasonic KX-TG2216, 2.4 Ghz phone. It's rugged and stylish with volume control and mute. Would recommend as a safe options to hands free environment. |

1 Suggestion, 1 Hack (and 2nd review on this item) |
My only suggestion for improving this headset is that Panasonic should redesign the mute switch to allow the user to hit the button and remain on mute without holding down the button.
I did a little work with a scalpel to remove some of plastic housing around the plug, so that I could use this headset with my Xbox Live voice module. The headset works great in that context as well as with a cordless or mobile phone.
*** My 2nd TCA92 review(04Jun2005 -- 1st was 15May2004) ***
I read the other reviews, and maybe it's my good fortune that I'm using Panasonic 2.4 gig phones that were top of the line for their time. The phones sound great, the internals are solidly engineered, and I get killer sound from my headset. I generally turn the phone all the way up & the headset all the way down.
As far as durability, my Panasonic phones have been through 4 years of hard use and even some abuse. Like the phones, my headset has survived both as well. I threw this headset (angry at something other than the headset), hard enough to break the folding part that grips the user's head. I glued that back on, snapped the speaker assembly back together and went on as usual. This headset takes a beating, in my experience, so the other reviewer who experienced a failure must really have worked it over, or somebody else did & then wouldn't cop to it.
Anyway, I visited Amazon tonight to buy one of Panasonic's 5.8 gig phones as a gift -- another testament to my satisfaction with these phones.
Ps. I don't work for Panasonic, but rather a subsidiary of a large software company based in Redmond, Washington. Just so you know I'm not on the take. |

this headset breaks easily |
Like others, I found that this headset worked for only a short time. Then I found that while I could hear the person I was calling, they couldn't hear me.
So I opened up the earpiece and found the problem: a wire had broken off the small chip that serves as the connection point between the mouthpiece and the earpiece. I soldered it back on, and the headset worked again.
In a week or two the same thing happened. I had to re-solder it.
The third time, I tried soldering it again, but more wires had broken off and I just gave up.
The problem seems to come from moving the mouthpiece. It CAN be twisted all around, but apparently that pulls on the wires inside and that's what breaks them off.
From what other people have described, I think this was what caused the problem they had.
I was happy enough with the headset itself -- when it worked, which wasn't for long. |
