Great value for the money |
| Does everything I expect. Remote control is fairly easy to use. Can hook up to the VCR so I can make DVD's out of my old VCR tapes. No complaints at all. |

Did not work right out of box |
| Purchased machine in May and just got it back from the service center. The 90 day warranty has expired and I haven't even used it yet. The problem started when the recordable discs would not format. After reading some reviews here, I called Sylvania and they sent the firmware to update the machine. After loading, it still did not work. Sylvania said it needed to go in for repair. It still does not work. I called Sylvania back and told the rep the story and she said I was mailed the wrong firmware and that is why the machine did not format the discs. It will be another 10 days before I get a second firmware disc. It took 7 phone calls to Sylvania because each time the call was disconnected; poor customer relations. I would NEVER have purchased this machine had I seen some of the reviews for June/July 2005. This is a $221 lesson on how not to buy an electronic product online. Had I purchased at a store, I would have simply returned it the day I got it since it was broken right out of the box! Also, trying to find discs that work on this machine was extremely hard. I went to 5 stores before finding the right one...which when you buy the machine it is not known how specific you need to be until you read the manual. Ugh!!! |

Good. Almost very good. |
Products'instructions are generally easy to understand and
perform. Unit operated well except for "locking up" on discs
recorded on the machine about 3/4 of the way through the disc.
The VCR section works well without difficulties. |
