First time bluetooth user |
I'm not highly experienced with bluetooth headsets so my complaints may be of the technology as opposed to the actual device.
Pros:
-Has a nice look
-Good accessories (charger and car adapter), convenient as any wireless headset can be expected.
-The sound quality sounds clear w/in 7 steps of the phone. I've been able to step out of my room, walk about 15 paces away and come back w/o losing the call from the headset.
-The volume is adequte for hearing in a car. Previously, I've often had to say "what? can you repeat that?" over and over again when using no ear piece. Now I got 2 hands, no wires to mess with (the wired's volume was good too but it picked up ALL the car noises), and respectable communication clarity.
Cons (some may apply just to bluetooth in general):
- Annoyingly, you have to press the power button for 7 seconds to power it up.
- It has an EXTREMELY distracting blue led blinker when it's on. If you have it attached to the car adapter (hooks into the air vents), the blue blinking is bright when driving at night. If it's in your ear, everyone sees your blinker as if you were some kind of sci-fi wannabe (annoying enough to see someone talking on headsets/cell phones already).
- It occassionally drops your call, you can retrieve it on the phone still (not lost), but you can't get back into the headset unless you start the call over again. If you don't start your conversation on the headset, you can't turn it on to transfer the conversation to it. (is this common amongst bluetooth?)
The battery length seems to last about 3-5 hours. I haven't fully measured it but it's roughly 5 conversations for me (average approx 50mins/call?).
- The soft rubber extension seems that it would cut down external noise and increase the clarity of one's own but it doesn't. When asked, my friends have said they can hear a good amount of road noise when I'm driving (a counter arguement is that they complain less than when I was on a $2 wired earpiece, so I think it actually does help, just not as much as I hoped, there is all these other products that hype on wind-noise cancellation and stuff).
Summary:
I got a great deal on this, so worth it. I would have been more interested to research the quality, as well as weight of other products (some can be had for under $50). It's a step up from what I was using before so I'm content with it. |
